Don Prospero Cabernet Franc
Cabernet Franc is a noble variety that finds a particularly elegant expression in the clay-limestone soils of Canelones. Naturally earlier ripening than its descendant Cabernet Sauvignon, it rewards careful vineyard management with wines that balance freshness, fruit expression, and structure. The 2024 Don Próspero Cabernet Franc opens with aromas of raspberry, cherry, aromatic herbs, sweet pepper, and delicate floral notes reminiscent of violet. Bright ruby in color with subtle violet reflections, it immediately showcases the freshness and vibrancy that have made Cabernet Franc one of Pizzorno's signature varieties.
On the palate, the wine is smooth and enveloping, supported by fine mature tannins and balanced acidity that provide freshness and lift. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, inviting another sip and making it exceptionally versatile at the table. Part of the Don Próspero collection, it honors Don Próspero Pizzorno, the Piedmontese immigrant who founded the winery in 1910 and whose pioneering spirit continues to guide four generations of family winemaking.
