MORE INFORMATION

From the Juanicó region of Canelones, Uruguay, this Bizarra Extravaganza Orange is crafted by Santiago Deicas from 50% Petit Manseng & 50% Gros Manseng grown under sustainable farming principles. Yields are kept low at 65 hl/ha.

Fermented with native yeasts, the juice spent 35 days on skins before aging six months (half in barrel, half in tank). Bottled unfiltered, with only a touch of sulfur at bottling. Vegan and vegetarian friendly.

In the glass, it’s hazy amber-orange. The nose is vibrant with apple, honey, and a hint of caramelized fruit. On the palate, it’s juicy and layered — fresh fruit juice meets candied notes, rustic spice, and a textured grip from extended skin contact.

Critics’ Note (Descorchados, 92 pts):
“Candied, caramelized flavors and ripe fruit with a firm, rustic texture. The sensation of sweetness comes from ripeness, not residual sugar. Very pleasing to drink.”

Serve: Well chilled, in a white or universal glass.
Pair with: Bold, spiced dishes, mezze, aged cheeses, or roasted vegetables.

About This Wine

Where does this wine come from?

Familia Deicas, Juanicó, Canelones, Uruguay. Nestled in the gently rolling countryside of Canelones, just northwest of Montevideo, Familia Deicas has spent generations crafting wines that reflect the rhythm of everyday life in Uruguay. The vineyards benefit from cooling Atlantic influences, warm sunshine, and fertile clay-limestone soils that produce wines with freshness, balance, and remarkable drinkability. While the Deicas family is internationally known for some of Uruguay's most prestigious wines, Don Pascual represents their belief that great wine belongs on the dinner table every day.

Who makes this wine?

Santiago Deicas

Santiago Deicas has built a reputation for pairing deep family tradition with fearless innovation. Alongside producing some of Uruguay's benchmark wines, he has championed experimental projects that explore new varieties, vineyard sites, and winemaking techniques. Bizarra Extravaganza reflects that philosophy—respecting history while never being limited by it.

Why did we choose this wine?

We chose this wine because it showcases the creative side of modern Uruguay. While many people discover Uruguay through Tannat, Bizarra Extravaganza invites wine lovers to explore something completely unexpected. Its skin-contact style offers texture, complexity, and a fresh perspective on what Uruguayan wine can become.
