Familia Deicas Preludio Barrel Select: Uruguay’s Iconic Collector’s Red

Bring a remarkable piece of Uruguayan wine heritage to your table with Familia Deicas Preludio Barrel Select 2019. First created in 1992 as Uruguay’s first prestige red, this thoughtfully crafted blend offers depth, character and the pleasure of a wine made to evolve over time.

Hand-selected grapes from low-yielding vineyard plots are carefully sorted before a long maceration draws out concentrated fruit, floral notes and spice. The blend of Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Marselan then spends 24–30 months in barrel. Only the barrels chosen by the family’s tasting committee make it into the final cuvée.

The 2019 vintage opens with aromas of dried fig, ripe berries, vanilla and gentle spice. On the palate, rounded tannins and bright acidity create a structured yet refined finish. Enjoy it now with a special meal, or cellar it for 5–15 years and follow its gradual development.

Familia Deicas, Juanicó, Canelones, Uruguay. Nestled in the gently rolling countryside of Canelones, just northwest of Montevideo, Familia Deicas has spent generations crafting wines that reflect the rhythm of everyday life in Uruguay.
