Bizarra Extravaganza Orange: A vibrant, textured wine worth sharing

Bizarra Extravaganza Orange brings a lively, food-friendly twist to the table. Made in Uruguay’s Juanicó region from equal parts Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng, it’s a great choice when you want something more characterful than a conventional white—without losing its freshness.

Native-yeast fermentation and 35 days of skin contact give this unfiltered orange wine its hazy amber hue, layered fruit and satisfying texture. After six months of aging, split between barrel and tank, it offers aromas of apple, honey and caramelized fruit. The palate is juicy, with candied notes, rustic spice and a gently grippy finish. Its impression of sweetness comes from ripe fruit, not residual sugar.

Made by Santiago Deicas from sustainably farmed grapes, with low yields and just a touch of sulfur at bottling, this wine is also suitable for vegan and vegetarian drinkers. Descorchados awarded it 92 points, praising its ripe fruit and pleasing, rustic structure.

  • Uruguayan orange wine made from Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng
  • Native-yeast fermented, skin-contact aged and bottled unfiltered
  • Serve well chilled in a white or universal wine glass
  • Pairs beautifully with spiced dishes, mezze, aged cheeses and roasted vegetables

Pour a glass when dinner calls for something distinctive, versatile and full of character.

About This Wine

Where does this wine come from?

Familia Deicas, Juanicó, Canelones, Uruguay. Nestled in the gently rolling countryside of Canelones, just northwest of Montevideo, Familia Deicas has spent generations crafting wines that reflect the rhythm of everyday life in Uruguay. The vineyards benefit from cooling Atlantic influences, warm sunshine, and fertile clay-limestone soils that produce wines with freshness, balance, and remarkable drinkability. While the Deicas family is internationally known for some of Uruguay's most prestigious wines, Don Pascual represents their belief that great wine belongs on the dinner table every day.

Who makes this wine?

Santiago Deicas

Santiago Deicas has built a reputation for pairing deep family tradition with fearless innovation. Alongside producing some of Uruguay's benchmark wines, he has championed experimental projects that explore new varieties, vineyard sites, and winemaking techniques. Bizarra Extravaganza reflects that philosophy—respecting history while never being limited by it.

Why did we choose this wine?

We chose this wine because it showcases the creative side of modern Uruguay. While many people discover Uruguay through Tannat, Bizarra Extravaganza invites wine lovers to explore something completely unexpected. Its skin-contact style offers texture, complexity, and a fresh perspective on what Uruguayan wine can become.
