Bodega Bouza

Bodega Bouza A8 Tannat 2019

  • Bold Red
  • Dark Fruits
  • Pronounced Oak

A single-vineyard icon from one of Uruguay’s most celebrated estates. The 2019 Bouza A8 Parcela Única Tannat delivers remarkable depth, elegance, and precision — a reflection of its stony clay-limestone soils in Melilla. Aged 18 months in French oak, it reveals layers of blackberry, cassis, and cocoa framed by fine tannins and a long, mineral finish. Powerful yet refined, it’s a wine that defines Uruguay’s modern luxury — collectible, expressive, and built to age gracefully.

MORE INFORMATION

About This Wine

Where does this wine come from?

Parcel A8, Melilla, Montevideo, Uruguay. This wine comes from a single Tannat parcel in Bouza’s Melilla vineyard on the rural outskirts of Montevideo. The vines grow above fractured crystalline bedrock, allowing their roots to search deeply for water and minerals. Parcel A8 was bottled separately because Bouza believed it delivered one of the vintage’s most distinctive expressions.

Who makes this wine?

Eduardo Boido

Winemaker Eduardo Boido has helped establish Bodega Bouza as one of Uruguay's benchmark estates through meticulous vineyard management and a philosophy that values precision over intervention. Every vineyard block is harvested and vinified separately, allowing each wine to reflect its origin with clarity, balance, and authenticity. His careful attention to detail has earned Bouza international recognition for producing some of the country's most refined wines.

Why did we choose this wine?

We chose this wine because it captures Bouza’s parcel-by-parcel philosophy in its purest form. Rather than blending away the individuality of the site, the winery isolated A8 to preserve its depth, structure and mineral character. With several years of bottle age, the 2019 offers a polished, mature expression of Tannat that is increasingly difficult to find
