Description
From the Juanicó region of Canelones, Uruguay, this Bizarra Extravaganza Orange is crafted by Santiago Deicas from 50% Petit Manseng & 50% Gros Manseng grown under sustainable farming principles. Yields are kept low at 65 hl/ha.
Fermented with native yeasts, the juice spent 35 days on skins before aging six months (half in barrel, half in tank). Bottled unfiltered, with only a touch of sulfur at bottling. Vegan and vegetarian friendly.
In the glass, it’s hazy amber-orange. The nose is vibrant with apple, honey, and a hint of caramelized fruit. On the palate, it’s juicy and layered — fresh fruit juice meets candied notes, rustic spice, and a textured grip from extended skin contact.
Critics’ Note (Descorchados, 92 pts):
“Candied, caramelized flavors and ripe fruit with a firm, rustic texture. The sensation of sweetness comes from ripeness, not residual sugar. Very pleasing to drink.”
Serve: Well chilled, in a white or universal glass.
Pair with: Bold, spiced dishes, mezze, aged cheeses, or roasted vegetables.
