"Some of the best wine discoveries happen when we let go of our expectations. This Cabernet is smooth, approachable, and a wonderful reminder that Uruguay can offer a completely different expression of a grape we all think we know."

About This Wine

Where does this wine come from?

Antigua Bodega Stagnari, La Paz, Canelones, Uruguay. Founded in 1928, Antigua Bodega is one of Uruguay's most respected family wineries, nestled in the gently rolling vineyards of La Paz, Canelones. The estate is defined by ancient pink granite and gravel-rich soils that naturally limit vine vigor while producing wines with remarkable concentration, freshness, and minerality. Today, Antigua Bodega continues to blend nearly a century of family tradition with sustainable vineyard practices, allowing each wine to express the unique character of its remarkable terroir.

Who makes this wine?

Laura Casella & Mariana Casella

Sisters Laura and Mariana Casella represent the third generation of the family behind Antigua Bodega. Together, they have continued the winery's legacy while embracing sustainable farming, thoughtful innovation, and a deep respect for their estate vineyards. Under their leadership, Antigua Bodega has become one of Uruguay's leading women-owned wineries, producing wines that faithfully express both the land and the family's enduring commitment to quality.

Why did we choose this wine?

We chose this wine because it reveals a side of Cabernet Sauvignon that surprises many wine lovers. Grown on Antigua Bodega's distinctive gravel soils, it combines classic structure with remarkable freshness, producing a refined expression that reflects both its vineyard and Uruguay's temperate climate.
