Uruguay's signature grape meets one of the world's most beloved red varieties.

The Don Próspero Tannat Malbec combines the best characteristics of two noble grapes: the structure, freshness, and character of Tannat alongside the softness, fruit expression, and generosity of Malbec. At Pizzorno Family Estates, each variety is vinified separately to preserve its unique personality before being carefully blended to create a wine that is both expressive and harmonious.

Grown in the San Francisco vineyards of Canelones, where cooling influences from the Río de la Plata help maintain freshness and balance, the wine begins with a cold maceration before traditional fermentation. The Malbec portion spends six months in French oak, adding subtle complexity while allowing the vibrant fruit character to remain at the forefront.

Deep ruby-violet in color, the nose reveals aromas of blackberry, plum, cherry, and red berries layered with delicate floral notes and hints of spice. On the palate, Malbec contributes juiciness and roundness while Tannat provides structure and backbone. Fine tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, polished finish make this one of the most versatile and food-friendly reds in the Pizzorno portfolio. Part of the Don Próspero collection, it honors founder Don Próspero Pizzorno, whose vision continues to guide four generations of family winemaking.
