From the rugged, wind-swept granite hills of Cerro del Guazuvira in Canelones, Extremo is one of Familia Deicas’s most daring and site-driven wines. Here, vines push through shallow soils and granite outcrops, where roots struggle for nutrients, yielding small, concentrated berries that embody the extremity of the terroir.
Crafted in limited quantities, Extremo is a bold blend led by Petit Verdot and Marselan, with supporting roles from Cabernet Franc and Tannat depending on the vintage. Grapes are hand-harvested and sorted berry by berry, followed by extended maceration and long barrel aging, allowing the wild character of the site to be tamed into elegance.
The wine opens with intense aromas of dark berries, wild herbs, and graphite, lifted by spice and floral notes. The palate is powerful yet refined, showing deep fruit, firm tannins, and a long mineral finish that reflects the granite soils.
