Sauvignon Blanc: A Uruguayan Twist on a Classic

Sauvignon Blanc: A Uruguayan Twist on a Classic

Born in France, in the Loire Valley, it sinks its roots into austere soils where, with effort, it develops a temperament that reveals its primitive and wild spirit. Its name comes from the French sauvage (wild) and blanc (white), evoking its untamed, free, and uncompromising origin. Its leaves are discreet, and the color of the grapes shifts from deep green to softer hues.

Youth and freshness define it perfectly. From its cradle in the Loire, it has journeyed across continents. Over time, its indomitable nature has softened, offering a broader range of aromas in harmony and intimate connection with the senses. It thrives on the sea breeze, which disperses humidity and allows it to preserve a vibrant acidity, unfolding citrus, herbal, and floral aromas and, depending on the terroir, a subtle mineral touch.

Fresh and light, it invites us to enjoy it while still young. The grape has inspired winemakers to venture beyond its aromatic and gustatory boundaries, seeking the balance that allows it to shine either on its own or alongside fine cuisine.

It pairs beautifully with seafood —with which it shares freshness and salinity—, with white meats accompanied by delicate sauces, steamed, baked, or grilled dishes, and vegetables and herbs that highlight its herbal nuances, provided they are not overly spiced.
