MORE INFORMATION

Bizarra Extravaganza Tannarone 2020

Tannat, taken in a wonderfully unexpected direction.

Tannarone begins with Tannat grapes allowed to dehydrate naturally on the vine, concentrating their character before a spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in concrete. The wine then remains in concrete for two years, building depth and texture without covering the fruit in oak.

Ripe fruit and homemade quince jam meet rose petals on the nose. The palate is intense, powerful and deeply expressive, with a generous texture and the unmistakable structure of Uruguay’s signature grape.

  • 100% Tannat
  • Canelones, Uruguay
  • Native-yeast fermentation in concrete
  • Aged two years in concrete
  • Minimal intervention with a small addition of SO₂ at bottling
  • Serve slightly cool at 60–61°F (16°C)

Pour it with slow-cooked beef, grilled lamb, aged cheeses or any meal that deserves a red with real personality.

"This is Tannat with a wonderfully unexpected personality—ripe, floral and powerful, but still deeply connected to Uruguay. I love sharing it with anyone who thinks they already know our signature grape."

About This Wine

Where does this wine come from?

Familia Deicas, Canelones, Uruguay. Clay-calcareous soils, rolling terrain and Atlantic-influenced winds give the region both ripeness and freshness.

Who makes this wine?

Santiago Deicas

Santiago Deicas pairs generations of family tradition with fearless experimentation, exploring vineyard sites, varieties and low-intervention techniques while keeping each wine unmistakably Uruguayan.

Why did we choose this wine?

A concentrated, unconventional expression of Tannat. Natural dehydration on the vine and two years in concrete build richness and depth while preserving the grape’s ripe fruit, quince and floral character.

Can you ship to my state?

We ship to 42 States. We do not ship to UT, LA, MS, KY, HI, DE, PA, AK
